Need Wiring Diagram for GE Model 5K204 E12, 1HP, TYPE K CODE M FRAME 204, PHASE 3, 60 CYCLE, TRICLAD INDUCTION MOTOR, No. SG18713, Probably manufactured in the early 1950s.
THERE A TOTAL OF 9 WIRES AT THE ACCESS PORT OF THE MOTOR. TWO GROUPS OF TWO ARE CONNECTED TOGETHER (THE TWO PAIR ARE SEPARATED FROM EACH OTHER) AND ARE THEREFORE NOT A PROBLEM. I CAN IDENTIFY THE "SILVER" GROUND WIRE; THEREFORE, IT IS NOT A PROBLEM. I NOW HAVE FOUR (4) REMAINING WIRES IN THE MOTOR PORT, BUT ONLY THREE REMAINING WIRES COMING FROM THE SWITCH (TWO 110 V0LTS WIRES AND ONE 220 VOLTS WIRE). I NEED A WIRING DIAGRAM IN ORDER TO DETERMINE HOW THE FOUR REMAINING WIRES CONNECT TO THE THREE REMAINING SWITCH WIRES. THIS MOTOR IS FOR A BUFFALO FORGE DRILL PRESS THAT I HAVE RECENTLY RESTORED.
I think you are over your head, but...
First off, you don't have 2 110V wires and one 220 volt wire. I don't know what you have but that makes no sense. And what switch are you talking about?
Do you have 3 phase power? If this is at your house, you don't. If you don't have 3 phase power, you will need to get a phase converter before you can think of running a 3 phase motor.
I'm also not sure about the 'silver' ground wire. Is this a bare wire, and you have 8 insulated wires? That doesn't make sense either. I've heard of 12 wires and 9 wires (excluding a ground), but not 8 wires. Those 9 or 12 wires are connected in some way to ultimately give 3 wires to the power source (for 3 phase). Your 8 with 4 connected leaving 4 doesn't compute.
Maybe the silver wire should have insulation and is really one of the 9 standard wires, and should be connected to one of your remaining 4 wires, to leave you with 3 wires, which are connected to a 3 phase source (don't know what voltage your motor is). Can you say how the wires are labeled?
