Has anyone put poles as well as skis in a Thule flat top carrier?
I'm using my thule flat top 6 for a trip this weekend and it looks like my poles will fit in it along with the skis, as they are not as thick. But still seemed to be clamped a little. Has anyone ever done this? Will I have any problems?
Used to do it all the time before I bought a box. As long as the top clicks down and hold the poles in place you should be fine. If you have the means to lock the Flat Top with a key, do that too, it will help ensure the rack won't pop open.
If you can't get it to latch well, then be safe and slap the poles in the car/truck/suv...and avoid the hassle.
