Why mobsters wear tracksuits.....
In a recent issue of Maxim's sibling publication "Stuff", mob informant and subect of the movie "Goodfellas" Henry Hill explained why mobsters wear tracksuits. According to Hill, it was a trend started by a Harlem mobster, Carmine "Mr. Gribbs" Tramunti. Tramunti started wearing them, and his peers in organized crime followed suit (no pun intended). Hill explains the functionality of the athletic wear--in addition to the obvious benefit of making even the heaviest wiseguy feel comfortable, they "come down fast when you wanna get a quick blow job." Hill also related the old Italian saying "Put an Italian in a uniform and he'll surrender. Put him in a suit and he'll gut you like an Irish pig."
