Orange Juice Concentrate A National Pride

Frozen Orange Juice Concentrate or FOJC originated right after reliable refrigeration models were designed. Back in the day of orange juice, industry mainly relied on salvaged fruits. A lot of these fruits however had been unusable for normal usage because most were out of shape, blemished or badly-colored.

All of the advances in pasteurization and the innovation of porcelain lined containers during the early 1930's triggered improved juice quality and the juice industry greatly expanded. In the mid 1940s, experts learned ways to concentrate fruit juice within a vacuum pressure and freeze it without destroying the vitamin and mineral content and flavour.

Frozen orange juice concentrate provided the troops of World War II delectable and healthy juice. This grew to be a real hit on the American consumer and shortly after, it extended around the world. After WWII, the need for frozen orange juice concentrates increased since most Americans have now ceased creating their juices.

Lately, the frozen orange juice industry have experienced a remarkable progress globally with the development of technological innovation in product packaging as well as easy use of mass transportation.

Fruits are extracted in great quantities when generating frozen orange juice concentrate. To make the juice concentrated, heat and vacuum pressure is utilized to take out the water.

Sugar levels in oranges are usually calculated with a “brix scale”. Once offered to customers, the brix level of orange juice concentrate reaches 42. Incorporating water to the FOJC to liquefy orange juice will bring the brix level right down to 11 or 12. Frozen orange juice concentrate is 3 times more concentrated compared to normal orange juice.

Producing frozen orange juice concentrate though isn't as challenging as you will picture. It can be made inside the ease and comfort of your house.

Here’s how to achieve it:

To begin with, put fresh orange juice in a narrow-necked plastic-type container just like a jug. Leave space for expansion, cover and freeze. Once the juice is entirely frozen, take away the cover and hang the container upside down over one more container. Let the frozen orange juice thaw drip by drip into the lower container until finally there is only ice left. Just discard the remaining ice since you would not need that anymore.

Next, pour back the segregated juice into your empty jug and simply perform the freezing and dripping process two more times to create a fine concentrate.

Finally, store the orange juice concentrate inside a jar or put it in ice trays and freeze again.

You now have a homemade FOJC to enjoy whenever you like. You should try it and enjoy!
