Motorcycle Accidents And Causes

Motorcycles have a higher rate of accidents. The rate of fatality with motorcycle is also higher. A majority of these accidents involve a motorcycle with a passenger vehicle. In many of these types of accidents, the motorcycle right of way has been found to be violated by the other vehicle. The remaining are single vehicle accidents where it does not involve another vehicles. These single vehicle accidents are usually due to rider error. This include fall due to over-breaking, slide-out, under-cornering or running wide on a curve due to over speeding. There is also small number of instances where vehicle failure such as a puncture flat also causes accidents. Involvement of alcohol is seen in about half of the fatal accidents.

The extent of injury is more with the involvement of alcohol, size of the motorcycle and the speed. Protective barriers on the road such as the lamps, signs and fences are often the cause of injuries when the accident occurs. The motorcyclists crash on to these protective barriers after the accident resulting in injuries. Another inherent problem with the motorcycle is their relatively low visibility on the road making it difficult for other vehicles to spot the motorcycles.

Motorcycles are categorized into the dual purpose, street and off-road motorcycles. The dual-purpose motorcycles are designed to be used both for transportation as well as motor racing. Street bikes include cruisers, mopeds and scooters. Street bikes are what are usually driven on the streets. The off road motorcycles are not designed for street riding and are not permitted for transport. They are for motor racing. There has been a slow down in the global economy. Gasoline price has been steadily increasing over the years. Both these factors are driving people to consider motorcycle as a better choice in terms of fuel economy. Increased traffic congestion makes motorcycle a better option as they are able to move through these snarls better. The manufacturers of the motorcycles are coming out with better models with newer features.

Can anyone tell me if China is still building Malev tracks from Shanghai to Hangzhou?

It was reported that Chinese government has approved the project, using Maglev trains designed and built by Chinese companies...However, I heard they abandoned the project and switched to traditional track-and-wheel high-speed trains. Can anyone confirm it?
